Programs For Adults

In addition to classes and workshops, Gilcrease Museum proudly offers a variety of programming and exciting events for adults. With lectures, films, and live performances, we have something for everyone. Please see our Events Calendar for specific dates and times, or download a printable version of our 2012 Spring Educational Program Guide.

Films

Sunday Matinee Films are shown each month at 1:30 p.m. in the Tom Gilcrease Jr. Auditorium. Both documentary and feature films focus on an aspect of the permanent collection or special traveling exhibitions.

Forum

The Gillies present informative formal lecture programs that enhance a visitors' visit to the museum's galleries.

Gallery Talks

Informal walk-and-talk gallery programs offer audiences a chance to dialogue with speakers.

Lectures

From My Point of View programs offer perspectives of museum staff and local experts on objects or ideas generated by the permanent collection. Special exhibition lectures provide insight into traveling art and history collections.

Live Performance

These programs take a variety of forms including theatre, living history presentations, musical ensembles, symposia, and dance companies.

Open Studio for Adult Artists

Local artists are invited to attend an open session facilitated by our consulting artist. The artist will be on hand to oversee a directed experience of either en plein air painting or studio work, dependent on the weather and group interest of those attending. Participants should bring their own supplies. There is no charge to drop in and work.
