Sculpting with Paint

Greg Beecham will show how artists use the tools of color, value, texture, edges, drawing, and composition to develop and bring a painting to a unified, beautiful finish. Teaching will be conducted while the artist demonstrates. Questions and dialogue are encouraged. Students will work from photographic exemplars as it is difficult for animals to remain still for long periods.

Skill level: Advanced Amateur – Professional

Fee: $150/members; $175/not-yet members. Participants provide their own supplies.

Greg Beecham

Greg Beecham has been painting full time for 32 years, specializing in wildlife art. His vision is to "sculpt with paint;" that is, to paint in such a way that there is not only the illusion of dimension, but genuine depth to the paint itself. He believes that if he can speak with paint more than detail, the net result will be a life-expressing realism. A member of the Northwest Rendezvous Group of Artists as well as the Society of Animal Artists, he has received numerous exhibition awards for his work.
