Description

During the 1936 Olympics held in Berlin, Jesse Owens, the 22-year-old-son of a sharecropper, earned four gold medals in two days – a remarkable achievement. This film looks at Owens' early years, detailing his athletic career. The film also describes Adolf Hitler's ambitions for the Olympics, explores the movement in Western democracies to boycott the event, and explains the pressure on Owens to attend. Produced and directed by Laurens Grant for PBS American Experience. 2012, 60 minutes, documentary, not rated.
