Gilcrease Museum believes that the "hands on" experience is vital to the understanding of both art and history. That's why throughout our museum, you will see signs on special exhibits that say "Please Touch." We provide these objects to complement exhibitions, and several permanent "hands-on" exhibitions are located in the Kravis Discovery Center. In addition, public access computers are available to assist with the study of our collections.
Fun Spaces Bring Happy Faces
Gilcrease has three fun, interactive spaces that bring out the kid in every visitor. Whether you are trying to get in touch with your inner child or to spend time with a child, be sure to stop in and visit the Creative Learning Center, 101 Ranch Kids Arena and the Kravis Discovery Center! All spaces are open daily from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. and staffed at various times throughout the week.
The Kids Site will be transformed into the KS Ranch, an interactive, multimedia space to learn and experience a little of the cowboy life through the activities and chores of the cowboy. This environment will offer visitors a chance to work a branding iron, check out a chuck wagon, sit and read stories around a campfire and practice roping that elusive steer. Also take advantage of the interactive computer games and paint programs at the computer stations. Saddle up and ride into the KS Ranch! The Kids Site will reopen February 13, 2010.
